The following thesis had the purpose to present an investigation made in Chile during an internship in the Local Network for Global Compact in 2012. The findings and conclusions lead us to consider the role of the United Nations Global Compact is essential to address issues of corporate social responsibility. It has also considered the possibility that major Global Compact evolution into a more powerful entity will lead, on the one hand, the possibility of creating legal obligations for companies and on the other hand, to achieve more concrete actions for solving problems that affect humanity in general.
